There is something very sweet and vulnerable about his new face. I love it! Paint all of the images of Jesus this way I say.

      Sort of walrus-like.

What’s cool, and makes it definitely religious imagery, is that everyone sees something different in there: violet sees sweet vulnerability; you see a walrus; BoingBoing sees a monkey; I see a Cossak with Down syndrome.

Jesus was a man of the people! And of the animals! It all makes sense. Not really.

Despite the fact that religion is as real as the easter bunny, the lady did screw up some real art which is sad in a way. But beside that it looks kinda like a Cro-Magnon man with black contacts.

The sadder fact is that if it hadn’t beena picture of Jesus, the ‘restorer’ probably wouldn’t have been interested. Thus religious motivation screws up hsitory once more.

I read that it was only 104 years old. was that a typo? If not then it is not much more historic than the woman herself.

Yes, you’re right. and Señora Giménez is in her 80s. She proabably knew the original artist.

I reckon Señora Giménez is an agent of world ecumenical unification myself – unwitting in so many ways.

Quite obviously she’s subconsciously turned “our” JC into “their” Hanuman – the Hindu monkey god. Like that woman who could channel Beethoven. But more permanent and destructive. I hope she didn’t use quick drying enamel.

I hope she did. Nothing quite like having the courage of your convictions.
